Questionable amineptine / tianeptine Post?

I was collecting information for my Tianeptine page when I came across
this post.

It seems to me as an advertisement as much as a caution... "Amineptine (Survector) may be ordered from IAS. See their website: www.antiaging-systems.com No prescription required. Be aware of amineptine's serious abuse potential."

One other amazing thing to note: in France they do not advertise their drugs the way that we do over here in the US. If a person is sick they probably do not need an ad to make them better.

Look for the official tianeptine website and it will be hard to find. Google search: tianeptine. If you search for Prozac, Paxil, or Zoloft you can bet your ass they will be listing at #1 for their names.

Hey, would that amineptine be able to cross the border into canada? I've got a serious problem induced by prescription drugs and amineptine is one of the ways out of it.
thanks in advance.

just wondering, if you might know the names of any antidepressants that work like amineptine?

from http://www.amineptine.com/

Amineptine isn't marketed or licensed in Britain and America. In Europe, too, the medication has been driven onto the pharmaceutical grey market. This is because FDA pressure led to the withdrawal of amineptine's EC product-license early in 1999, causing substantial problems for patients and physicians alike. In early 2004, amineptine is still available in parts of South America. It is off-patent, but not cheap. Optimal dosage is variable; but typically 100mg-200mg per day. No exact substitute for amineptine is currently on offer or in prospect...

I suffer with severe depression. I've been on most all antidepressants, some offer minor relief. I came across info on reboxetine and the mood disorders it affects, (many of the primary areas of my depression). I was exstatic until I found it was no longer available as the FDA had banned its use. Why? With the number of nuerotransmitters that affect mood, why is the focus bent on the "all mighty SSRI's"? There are MAOI's but not too popular due to dietary restrictions. The NARI's seem to be the perfect med for me. Does anyone wonder why there is a great population that gravitates toward stimulant drugs? The human body thrives for balance and will do whatever that takes. Its just common sense that one size does not fit all, SSRI's are not the answer for all. Why,Why, Why was Reboxetine pulled, I have yet to find an answer. Was it a threat to the profits to the Pharmaceutical companies supplying SSRI's? If Reboxetine does what it says it does, I could finally live a full, rewarding life.

Mona,

It seems Amineptine had a high abuse potential and posed the threat of lawsuits for it's maker. Here's the strange part. The tests showed that no men and no women over about 25 y.o. ever abused it more than lightly. And the reason women under 25 abused it is in question.

Amineptine is a pro-sexual stimulant and causes spontaneous orgasms. I wonder if, especially in France, young women were abusing the med at the nudging of very happy boyfriends.

I'd like to see more on the studies that indicated abuse potential. I'd really like first-hand, discussions with some of the people who took it to see what was going on as I'll bet I'm at least partly right in my assumption.

aaron wall, you mentioned amineptine possibly being available in south america.can you supply any more specific details?thanx!

Survector (amineptine) has been shown to be toxic to the liver. It produces reactive metabolites that can, in genetically susceptible individuals, destroy lymphocytes and cause hepatocellular damage.

Survector is available here in Indonesia where I live. It is about $4 for 6 tablets.

I would recommend having regular LFT (liver function tests) while taking Survector.

In addition, if you develop any sort of rash while on Survector, you should discontinue it immediately, since the liver damage seen with Survector is thought the be the result of an immunoallergic reaction to the metabolites.

Good luck! I personally take Stablon (tianeptine) which has similar reactive metabolites and can also cause liver problems. This is the only antidepressant I can tolerate. SSRIs were terrible for me and conventional TCAs (tricyclics) were chock-full of side-effects.

I also have delt with depression along with excessive sleep to help deal with it..I have tried many of the anti depressants with horrible effects until I found cymbalta and provigil. I take 60mg cymbalta and 100 mg provigil and I feel upbeat excited about my life and ready to face all of it.. (I had to work up to the dossages). This is a great combination for my type of depression...Char

stay away from survector (amneptine). in brazil it was widely sold and my parents got addicted. Survector was prescribed to them by a doctor. But they abused. My father used to take about 20 pills of survector a day!
He lost his mind and we lost our business and our home

After researching about amineptine (survector), here's what i gathered. It can:

- inhibit oxytocin, thus ppl will fall in-love

- makes ppl express suppressed emotions by having a good cry if needed (unlike SSRI's which makes you numb and emotionless zombie)

- gives spontaneous orgasm

- makes everything around look colorful and lovely

- makes you sociable

- makes you wanna touch and be touched

- improves motor skills (you'd want to keep on moving)

For short: AMINEPTINE IS WHAT A DEPRESSED PERSON NEEDS, NOT THOSE SSRI'S!!!

Rafael, that sounds tragic, but I'd be careful in putting the blame on the compound.

I am looking high and low for this stuff. Does anyone know where I can get it?

Oxytocin encourages emotional bonding (it is the compound released after orgasm), so inhibiting it would seem to prevent "falling in love", if we are speaking of long term bonding type.

Wanda, rafael and marsha's refrence to "inhibit"-ing the oxytocin meant that it inhibits the re-uptake of the drug in the brain so it stays available for use longer, I believe. I could be wrong, though.

I SUFFER FROM RESISTANT DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY.
I TRIED ALL ANTIDEPRESSANT DRUGS WITHOUT SUCCESS.
DOES ANYBODY KNOWS WHERE CAN I FIND AND BUY AMINEPTINE (SURVECTOR)??
I WOULD MUCH APPRECIATE FOR AN ANSWER.

I can witness that SSRIs are well-suited for treating of OCD (obsessive-compulsive-disorder). In this case, amineptine is only a waste of time. You fill good for a while, and after 2 hours you face again your obsessions. I took Zoloft in particular for some year, and this gave me the calm and the control on my thoughts, sufficiently to fix my problems.
